Although you’ve contracted a home-home service, sometimes it’s possible that the transportation company delivers your package at an arranged point or at ParcelShop.
This happens when the recipient cannot be located (Absence, Incomplete Address, Inaccessible Area, etc.). In order to avoid delaying delivery or attempting to deliver again, which may result in extra costs for the customers, couriers often deliver the goods to a neighbour or nearby establishment, or they even drop it off at the branch nearest to the delivery address.
If there’s a possibility, the courier will try to leave a note with the delivery details.
In the case of GLS, they have different policies and delivery methods depending on the country. It should be noted that:
|Sweden||For shipments of up to 20 kg, deliveries will be made directly to the ParcelShop closest to the address; the customer will be notified by SMS, email or post. For shipments weighing more than 20 kg, the driver will try to leave the package with a neighbour and, if that’s not possible, they will drop it off at the nearest ParcelShop.|
|Finland||Deliveries will be made directly to the ParcelShop closest to the address; the customer will be notified by SMS, email or post.|
|Norway||The delivery will be made to the ParcelShop or the Correos Postal office closest to the address.|
