With Packlink, you can send luggage, even if we do not have a service dedicated exclusively to suitcases.
We remind you that suitcases and luggage must always be packed in a box and it is important to weigh and measure them precisely.
Any damage (scratches, tears, broken handles or wheels, etc.) or, in deed, the loss of a suitcase and / or its contents is not protected by our insurance cover if the suitcase has not been packed in a box, e.g. the suitcase casing is not considered sufficient packaging.
Transport companies generally take in baggage, even if they are only wrapped. However, remember that in case of loss or damage, if you do not take extra packaging measures for your suitcase, our shipping platform insurance will not be able to intervene in case of transport problems.
Even if you are sending baggage, you will need to put the shiping label outside the packaging. For this reason it is important to use a cardboard box which will allow you to permanently attach the courier label. Applying it directly to the suitcase fabric may result in the label easily falling during transport.
Packing Option 1 (not covered by insurance): Nylon film
- Insert a copy of the shipping label inside the suitcase
- Apply a second copy of the shipping document on one of the outer sides of the bag
- Place the luggage vertically
- Tie the film to the handle of the suitcase so that it cannot come off
- Wrap the suitcase generously in the nylon
- Fix the film with adhesive tape.
- Insert a third copy of the transport document in a transparent bag and secure it securely
Packing Option 2 (insurance covered): Box or Cardboard
- Insert a copy of the shipping label inside the suitcase
- Apply a second copy of the shipping document on one of the outer sides of the bag
- Get a cardboard container slightly larger than the size of the suitcase or a cardboard box.
- Remove any other labels or alternative addresses on the box that could confuse the courier
- Wrap the suitcase with the cardboard
- Seal the cardboard box carefully with a generous amount of packaging tape
- Insert a third copy of the transport document in a transparent bag and secure it securely
If the suitcase or luggage is not properly packed the insurance will not cover the damage.
We recommend that you always consult the conditions of service of the transport company chosen and our List of Prohibited Items before sending your suitcase to ensure that you have not included: enamels, deodorants, sprays, gels, flammable products, etc).
