How to measure your suitcase

If you have decided to send your suitcase, it is very important to weigh it and measure it properly. For this, you will need a tape measure and a scale.

You must always write the measurements in centimetres: width x length x height (you must include the handle and the wheels in the measurements).

We remind you that the suitcase must travel inside a box as detailed in the Packaging Guide to avoid damage during transport. If you decide to send it without a box, you have to bear in mind that in the event of damage, it will not be covered by insurance as suitcases are listed in our List of Restricted Items

Packaging option 1 (not covered by insurance): Plastic packaging

  • Put a copy of the label inside the suitcase.
  • Add a second copy of the document in one of the sides and make sure it is clearly visible.
  • Place the case vertically
  • Add one more layer of plastic wrap and tie it to the handle
  • Wrap the suitcase generously in plastic, making sure the wheels are free of plastic.
  • Fix the plastic with adhesive tape.
  • Add the label on the outside, without covering the barcode with plastic.

Packaging option 2 (covered by insurance): Box or cardboard

  • Put a copy of the label inside the suitcase.
  • Add a second copy of the document in one of the sides and make sure it is clearly visible.
  • Use a box that is a bit bigger than the size of the suitcase because you must add interior protection.
  • Put the suitcase in the box.
  • Write the name of the recipient, the destination country and the city in capital letters.
  • Stick the label on one side of the box, without covering the barcode with adhesive tape.
