Sending pallets and bulky goods with Packlink

Tips

The shipping services available for these type of goods are:

• TNT Express National Pallets
• TNT Economy Europe Pallets
• TNT Economy International Pallets

When the courier arrives to collect the pallet, make sure that it is available in an accessible place so it can be loaded onto the vehicle without any problems.

Both sender and recipient must have pallet trucks, raising platforms, etc., to move the items. Otherwise, the carrier may apply additional charges for requiring special handling.

Important

Both pick up and delivery services will be provided on the ground floor, at the entrance of the building. 

Packaging materials

Please use the following materials while packing your items:

• Plastic or wooden pallets.
• Double corrugated cardboard boxes, based on both weight and dimensions of the item.
• Plastic wrap / Shrink wrap.
• Polystyrene (at least 10cm of thickness).
• Polypropylene straps.
• Expanded polyethylene sheets.
• Mouldable foam.
• Polyethylene foam.
• Filler chips.
• Packaging tape.

Packaging instructions

Once you have gathered all the materials, please follow these instructions to avoid any damages:

• Option 1 - Sending boxes: 

1. Stack the boxes in the center of the pallet, to create one single parcel. 
2. Protect the borders of the box, using apposite expanded polyethylene sheets.
3. Wrap the boxes with several layers of plastic wrap / shrink wrap. 
4. Fix the boxes to the pallet, using polypropylene straps. 
5. Make sure the boxes do not move and they do not come off the pallet. 
6. Attach the shipping label to one side of the parcel, using packaging tape, without covering the barcode. 

• Option 2 - Sending bulky goods:

1. Wrap the whole item with polystyrene sheets, at least 10 cm of thickness.
2. Place the item vertically in a cardboard box, at least 5 cm away from borders to avoid damages and vibrations during transportation. 
3. Protect borders and corners using expanded polyethylene.
4. Make sure there are no gaps and that the contents cannot move after sealing the box. Use sufficient filler material and shock absorbers (formable foam, polyethylene foam, foam chips/shavings, inflatable packaging, etc.)
5. Close and seal the cardboard box with good quality and resilient packing tape.
6. Wrap the whole box with several layers of plastic wrap / shrink wrap. 
7. Fix the box to the pallet, using polypropylene straps. 
8. Make sure the box does not move and that it doesn't come off the pallet. 
9. Attach the shipping label to one side of the parcel, using packaging tape, without covering the barcode.

Coverage

In the event of damage, the Claims Department will only consider claims where the items have been transported with sufficient protective material. Any item that is transported without respecting our Packaging Guide will be excluded and ineligible for any compensation otherwise awarded.
