To finalise your order on Packlink, you need a tape measure and a scale so that when you enter the information in the shipment search, you'll find only those services that fit your needs.
In our help center you find all the instructions to weigh and measure your parcel correctly.
If the weight or volume isn’t accurate, the following issues may occur:
- The courier may refuse the collection.
- Your shipment may be withheld at the facilities of the transport company. If this happens, we will contact you to provide information and options according for your case (such as: payment of an extra charge, return to origin, collection at the transportation company’s facilities, etc.).
- Some carriers transport the goods regardless of the information provided on our platform and afterwards they charge Packlink with the service based on the weight/dimensions detected by their scanner. For this reason, when they submit the invoice to us and there is a discrepancy in weight/dimensions we put the extra charge through to your account (the maximum term for us to create this type of charge is 1 year from the contracting of the service).
- Packlink PRO may charge a handling fee for all shipments with declared weight or measurements that are less than those audited by the contracted carrier (min £ 1). The surcharge (extra payment) will be 15% of the rate charged for weight or volume mismatch for amounts less than £ 20 and 20% for amounts over £ 20. This surcharge will apply in addition to any additional transportation charges that may be applicable. Example: you declare a weight of 5 kg, while the carrier detects 8 kg.
Important
Please note that this charge cannot be voided unless the error is proven with images of the affected package, where the label of the transportation company and the dimensions (height, length and width) are displayed using a tape measure and/or scale.
Of course, we are aware of the difference that may occur when weighing on a household scale or on an industrial one, so we understand that there could be a small margin of error. We bill our customers based on the values they provide for the shipment; as a result, the differences in price will be claimed from you.
Lastly, keep in mind that there are maximum weight values and dimensions for each transportation agency and type of service, so it is essential that the information you are providing is as accurate as possible.
